Greenhouse Gases:

(GHG) are components of the atmosphere that contribute to the greenhouse effect. Some greenhouse gases occur naturally in the atmosphere, while others result from human activities such as burning of fossil fuel and coal. Greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

Greenhouse Effect:

The greenhouse effect is similar to placing the Earth inside a greenhouse which increases in Earth’s temperature. In reality, the increase in the Earth’s temperature is caused by the growing amount of certain gasses in the atmosphere – nitrous oxide, methane and, most importantly, carbon dioxide. These gases are referred to as Greenhouse Gases.

These “greenhouse gases” have the same effect on Earth as do glass walls of a greenhouse. The glass will let sunlight in while keeping heat from escaping. The natural greenhouse effect is important for the survival of the Earth. Without the Greenhouse effect we could not live on Earth – it would be too cold.

Too much of a good thing can be bad. Too much burning of coal, oil and natural gas has significantly increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Now the Earth is now heating up. That is NOT a good thing. [This process is often called “global warming.”]

The National Organization for American Humanities is an accountable American non-profit 501(c)3 and World entity. We have accepted the challenge to support those causes and activities which directly benefit the world. Presently, NOAH’s primary goal is to support environmental education and elimination of Global Warming caused by Greenhouse Gases.
